Lighting Systems is a robust and thriving company that was founded in San Francisco back in 1967 by four ambitious members of a local lighting manufacturer’s sales force – Al Thompson, Lew Gill, Tony Biro, and Al Gleason. Since then, we’ve expanded our operations across the Bay Area, adding Principal Stan Heywood and Larry Routh to the team, opening offices in Sacramento Valley and welcoming our new Principal John Morrow to the team….Our focus has always been on commercial and industrial specification sales, working closely with electrical engineers, lighting designers, and architects. Over the years, we’ve also had the pleasure of serving the residential and design build markets through our relationships with electrical distributors and contractors.

With new management in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, Dan Thompson, Marshall Dunbar, and Keith Roberts came on board, igniting a renewed emphasis on the specification end of the construction market and leading to continued growth in sales. When we added our third generation of management in 2008, we welcomed Nazzi Nazeri and Brent Chaffee to our team of principals. Followed in 2017 by Jim Boyd.

In 2024, we entered a new chapter in our company’s history as Jim Boyd and Brent Chaffee became the sole leaders of the fourth generation at Lighting Systems. Having already served as principals for several years, their combined expertise and vision are instrumental in steering our company into the future. With our focus on commercial, residential and industrial specification sales, Lighting Systems continues to strengthen our relationships with electrical engineers, lighting designers, and architects. Our commitment to innovation and excellence will guide us as we embrace new technologies and sustainable practices, ensuring our ongoing success in the lighting industry.
